A high wind chill and slippery streets were no match for Marianas Trench and Lølø fans in Winnipeg, who packed The Burton Cummings Theatre on Wednesday, December 4th. Merchandise lines wrapped around the building, and young and older adults flooded the venue, eager to sing and dance to songs from one of Canada's best live pop-rock bands.

Toronto's modern pop punk princess, Lauren Mandel, also known as Lølø, opened the night with an energy-filled set that showcased her unique blend of self-deprecating humour and empowering speeches. She has been on tours promoting her newly-released debut album, falling for robots & wishing I was one, which released on Hopeless Records in June. Lølø's setlist featured tracks from her new album, some old music from her previous EPs and a cover of Icona Pop's "I Love It,"which had the entire crowd matching Lølø's energy, singing every word. Throughout her performance, she noticed small groups of people singing along to her, pointing and smiling back at them. Her set had an overall good response, never letting her stage presence and energy die down one bit—perfectly setting the stage for the headliner.

Lølø is for fans of: Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne, Yellowcard, Maggie Lindemann, Tate McRae, Honey Revenge, and Charlotte Sands.

With the release of their most ambitious album yet, Marianas Trench took the stage with a dazzling display of lights, perfectly synced to the beat of their theatrical pop rock tunes from "Haven," and cuts from older albums such as "Masterpiece Theater." The band opened with three singles from the new album, including "A Normal Life," setting the mood for the rest of the night.

When Marianas Trench continued their set with "Desperate Measures" and "All to Myself,' the crowd erupted in a wave of screams and enthusiastic singing. Vocalist Josh Ramsay introduced the band during "All to Myself" and let the spotlight shine on bassist Mike Ayley, who overtook the verses. Later, member contributions came from drummer Ian Casselman and guitarist Matt Webb, who provided lead vocal parts to "Pop 101" and "Who Do You Love," respectively.

One of the standout moments of the set was "Haven't Had Enough," during which vocalist Josh leapt off the stage and onto the barrier, engaging directly with fans in the pit.

Marianas Trench brought their set to a climactic close with performances of "Good To You," "Strutter," and "Haven."

Marianas Trench is concluding their tour this week with a hometown performance in Vancouver. The tour took the band across America and Canada, Sharing the stage with artists such as Cassadee Pope (formerly of Hey Monday), Grayscale, and Girlfriends. They built their enduring legacy on performances like the one in Winnipeg, where they demonstrated unwavering energy and delivered a masterclass in crowd interaction and stage presence.

Marianas Trench is for fans of bands including All Time Low, 5 Seconds of Summer, The Maine, Mayday Parade, The Summer Set, and Boys Like Girls.
